ISO 9001:2000 certification – to the Freeport of Riga
For centuries Riga has been a port town. Rigans have inherited love for sea and sailing from generation to generation.
Successful operation of the port has always been a substantial source of income for Rigans. The accumulated knowledge and experience have advanced the employees and leading experts of the enterprises of the Freeport of Riga into positions that constantly demand improvement of management mechanisms in compliance with the most modern port practice, creating attractive and trustful attitude towards the client.
In September 1999, the Freeport of Riga Authority set a new target – to implement the ISO 9002 standard in the management system of the port. In means increase of responsibility and competence of the employees and leading experts, regular audits of the management system and possibilities to realize competitiveness of the port in international circulation in a qualitatively new level. Certification and audit of the system is performed each year by the “Bureau Veritas Quality International”.
Undeniably, the quality certification ISO 9002 issued on 4 July 2000 delegates new responsibilities to the Freeport Authority, yet it proves that the Freeport of Riga is ready to work and make responsible decisions, thus creating a predictable, long-range development strategy of the port.
On 3 July 2003, a quality certification ISO 9001:2000 was issued to the Freeport of Riga Authority by the Bureau Veritas Quality International.
On 10 June 2004, a quality certification ISO 14001:2004 was issued to the Freeport of Riga Authority by the Bureau Veritas Quality International.
