Project "AMBER COAST LOGISTICS"

On 7th February 2011 the Freeport of Riga agreed to become a partner in the European Union Baltic Sea Region Programme 2007 – 2013 project AMBER COAST LOGISTICS.

Project is co-financed by the Baltic Sea regional Programme. The Lead Partner for the Project is Hafen Hamburg Marketing e.V.

Organization of the Project Work

The work of the Project will be organized in 5 work packages:

  1. Project Management and Administration
  2. Communication and Information
  3. Flow of Goods and Institutional/Legal Aspects Especially Relevant for Low Accessibility Areas
  4. Sustainable and Efficient Transport Concepts and Multi-modal Transport Chains
  5. Regional Logistics Integration for Areas with Low Accessibility

Work Package 4

The Freeport of Riga is responsible for the Work package 4 Sustainable and Efficient Transport Concepts and Multi-modal Transport Chains.

4 activities are envisaged in the Work Package 4:

  • Macro economic development, multi-modal transport market prospects and the impact on port hinterland structures in the ACL region (November 2011 – November 2012)
  • Innovative operational concepts of multimodal transport chains and environmental impacts (March 2012 - July 2013)
  • Operational challenges at the port interfaces of multi-modal transport chains in the light of their hinterland development January 2012 – September 2013
  • Launching of a "Multimodal Transport Action Programme" for the ACL region and beyond (January 2013 – March 2014)
