Mariner S.p.A. of Italy have acquired the full shareholding interests in BCT. BCT today is one of the fastest growing shipping terminals in the Baltics in terms of container throughput thanks, in part, to its status as the leading entry point from the Baltic states to the important Russian market.

Riga has traditionally been considered as the Western end of the Trans-Siberian Railway. BCT is positioning itself as the Gateway via Latvia to act as a main distribution center in the Baltic Region and the CIS. The western style of management being adopted is safeguarding against corruption and security issues besides ensuring the highest productivity levels in the region.
